I remember my first “ethical” hack. My older sister had fallen asleep and locked herself in her room and my parents (mom) were frantic. We thought the worst and while everyone was panicking, I was ready with my lock-pick (laughs). So, I went to work and locked in, literally and figuratively (laughs). It took me a minute to hit the lock in the right spot and then I heard what every hacker dreams of, a clicking sound and I I was in. We found her asleep listening to music if I remember correctly. While everyone rushed in I was low-key impressed at how fast I had cracked the lock. This same feeling follows me until today. The idea I can do something to something else and gain access or change it in an unconventional way.
When it comes to ethical hacking, or to be professional, penetration testing the momentum comes from the journey of the hack itself. It is my dream one day to find a zero day. I won’t go into much detail as to what that is but if you know you know. For now, however, I will stay humble as I learn to the tools of the trade before I can ride the bike without training wheels as they say.
