Here we are. An elite group of shinobi from the leaf who are assigned to one core mission – reconnaissance and assassination. They are the equivalent of an intelligence agency in today’s world. The ANBU operate in the dark. Their identity is a mystery and they take part in covert missions to protect the leaf. They are highly skilled in taijutsu, ninjutsu, and some are weapon specialists. In reality they are black ops military operatives who take on the toughest missions. Some notable members include Itachi and Yamato as well as Kakashi. They protect the Hokage and take out anyone who is a direct threat to the leaf.
